Justin Verlander should start first All-Star Game for AL
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,
The Detroit Tigers' Justin Verlander is making a strong case to start the 2011 MLB All Star Game for the American League. He threw his second consecutive complete game on Sunday and now has recorded a “W” in five straight starts. During those, he’s pitched 41.2 innings with a 0.86 ERA, 37 strikeouts and a 0.65 WHIP. Truly ridiculous numbers over the last three weeks. And none of those include the no-hitter he threw on May 7.

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, Editorial, NBA, NHL,
This week's "In Your Face" goes to the lovely rioting people of Vancouver who played ultimate sore loser when the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins. Nice job, eh? We also call out the NBA and the NBA Players Association who will likely strike after a great NBA postseason. Get it together! LISTEN UP!

EndScore Report: LeBron James is Better Than Us
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, NBA, Playoffs,
In this edition of EndScore Report, DV and Chris speak on the LeBron James situation in which he initmated he was better than us regular folk. Maybe it was just sour grapes on his part after his Miami Heat lost to Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, but still, LeBron should have some class. I don't know how Dwyane Wade is going to deal with this for several more seasons. Yeesh! Anyway, give it a LISTEN!

Carl Pavano, Minnesota Twins starting to get hot
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,
Statistically, Carl Pavano’s career has been nothing short of a wild rollercoaster ride. The Minnesota Twins’ starting right-hander has been unpredictable from year to year. Pavano’s no stranger to rough stretches, and clearly he’s learned a lot from his low points in order to be most effective when he turns it around. The only problem for Pavano is that nobody seems to know how long it will take him to improve; or even how long before it gets worse again.

Tim Thomas cleaning up NHL hardware
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, Championship, NHL,
In the aftermath of the city of Vancouver tearing itself apart, it’s easy to forget that the Boston Bruins are the newly-crowned Stanley Cup Champions. Tim Thomas performed admirably in net in securing his team the championship trophy as well as locking up the Conn Smythe Trophy himself as playoff MVP. By shutting out the opposition in the biggest game of his life, Thomas has secured himself as a fixture as both a Bruin and an American.

Scott Kazmir released by Los Angeles Angels
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,
The latest mistake of Los Angels Angels GM Tony Reagins finally blew up in his face as Los Angeles cut ties with doomed starting pitcher Scott Kazmir, released him and swallowing the remainder of the $14.5 million they owe him for the rest of the 2011 season. Kazmir was disabled with lower back tightness after one Major League start, but couldn’t find the strike zone in extended Spring Training in Arizona, which proved to be quite futile.

Adam Dunn belted his seventh home run of the season on Sunday; the 361st of his career to tie Joe DiMaggio on the all-time list. The man who is just as popular for his home runs as he is infamous for his strikeouts finally hit two long balls in the same week. While the bomb helped the Chicago White Sox overcome the Oakland Athletics in the game, Dunn still has a long way to go to salvage what is quickly becoming a season to forget.

EndScore Report: In Your Face Wade, LeBron, and LeBron Haters
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, NBA, Playoffs,
In this edition of "In Your Face," Chris throws down on Dwyane Wade and LeBron James for allegedly mocking Dirk Nowitzki being sick for Game Four, which the Dallas Mavericks won. Of course, the mocking didn't phase Nowitzki as he and the Mavs then took Game Five to go up in the NBA Finals, three games to two versus the Miami Heat. DV goes after the LeBron haters that think he suddenly stinks. Sure LeBron has only had eight total points in ever fourth quarter during the championship series, but you can't sleep on the production before then that keep the Heat in the games. He had a triple-double in Game Five! If that's disappointing, ask NBA players how they would like to get a triple-double in a regular season game, let alone during the NBA Finals! HEAR IT!

It's entirely too hard not to speak about the NBA Finals once again in this edition of EndScore Report. DV and Chris are absolutely loving this match-up between the Dallas Mavericks led by Dirk Nowitzki and the Miami Heat led by Dwyane Wade. LeBron James has disappeared during the NBA Finals during the fourth quarter and he'll need to step it up in order for the Heat to take Game Six and force a final and deciding Game Seven. However, if players such as Jason Terry and J.J. Barea continue to produce, it may be an NBA title for the Mavs despite what the Heat do. LISTEN UP!
