Demi Lovato Wants Emotional Music

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Pop,

Demi LovatoDemi Lovato wants to bring more "emotion" to music. The "Skyscraper" hitmaker - who underwent a three-month stint in rehab in 2010 to receive help for self harm, bipolar disorder and an eating disorder - has learned to "connect" with her audience by being truthful about herself and admires the work of Adele and Taylor Swift, who make catchy, honest songs.

"For a long time, I was pretending to be someone that I wasn't, and I was miserable. When I came out and said, 'I'm human, I've got problems, but I'm willing to share them,' that's when I started to really connect. I've just begun working on my fourth album, and I want to do that in my music too. I'm tired of songs that don't have much emotion in them. I love the way that Adele has carved out a path for a singer that's very emotional, but I also love how Taylor Swift can do the same thing--she puts a lot into her songs yet they're still very catchy."

Taylor Swift Talks to Herself to Calm Stage Fright

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift talks to herself in the mirror to calm herself down before going on stage. The 22-year-old singer is a nervous wreck before she performs a gig, particularly at music festivals where fans may not have turned up just to see her, so the blonde beauty quells her anxiety by repeatedly telling herself that she is "going to be OK."

"I get pretty nervous. I kind of like go through, you know when you talk to yourself in the mirror? And I'm like, 'They're not going to throw things at you, it's going to be OK, it's going to be OK.' It's not like that, it's more like, 'Mmm ... it's going to be OK?' I don't get nervous when I'm going on stage and a crowd of people have bought tickets to see me, because I'm like, 'You guys totally want to be here.' It's when I'm not sure if people want me to be on stage."

The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" hitmaker - who is currently on a visit to the UK - was delighted to meet fellow singer Ellie Goulding last night because Taylor is "obsessed" with the "Your Song" singer, but thinks the 25-year-old star may have been "weirded out" by her constant questions.

Taylor Swift Calls John Mayer ‘Presumptuous’

John Mayer and Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift thinks that John Mayer is "presumptuous."

The 22-year-old singer was outraged to discover that her ex-boyfriend assumed her 2010 break-up anthem "Dear John" was penned about him, but refuses to hear exactly what he thinks of her.

When quizzed about what John had said about her hit song, Taylor told Glamour, "How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about. I know it wasn't good, so I don't want to know. I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can't handle."

Long-haired lothario John - who is now dating Katy Perry - commented in June that Taylor's song "humiliated" him, saying, "It made me feel terrible. Because I didn't deserve it."

The blonde beauty is secure in her new romance with Conor Kennedy, but confessed she is not immune to criticism, let alone from her exes, and wishes she had a thicker skin. "It's not that I'm this egomaniac and I don't want to hear anything negative, because I do keep myself in check. But I've never developed that thick a skin. So I just kind of live a life, and I let all the gossip live somewhere else. If you go too far down the rabbit hole of what people think about you, it can change everything about who you are," she explained.

But then, when you make eye contact with someone across the room and it clicks and, bam, you're there. In love again."

The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" hitmaker admits she falls in love "easily" if she meets the right person and she doesn't accept that it's a fault.

Taylor Swift is ‘Already Part’ of the Kennedy Family

Taylor Swift and Conor KennedyTaylor Swift is "already a part of" the Kennedy family.

The "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer is currently dating Conor Kennedy - whose grandfather was politician Robert F. Kennedy - and has quickly gained approval from the political dynasty. Speaking of the romance, former U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy told website TMZ, "We love Taylor Swift. She's been a great friend and we're happy for Conor. If she wants to be in the family, she's already a part of it."

Taylor - famed for writing songs about her romances with other celebrities - has spent lots of time with Conor over the last few months, even accompanying him to visit his mother's grave after she passed away in May. She also missed him so much after having to leave him in Massachusetts to go to Nashville she chartered a private jet so he could visit.

"Taylor missed Conor so much, she sent a plane for him a few days later. He's been with her ever since, and his family doesn't know when he will be back. Things have become so serious between them so fast that no one in Hyannis Port [where the Kennedy family's summer home is located] would be surprised if they eloped," one source said.
