2012 is set to come to a close in just a few hours, and we are just in time with our annual top 10 list of the most-watched Gear Live video episodes. Over the past year, as expected, there was a bunch of Apple gear that made the list, and it's dominated by smartphones and tablets, with the exception of two Monster headphones, a look at the Boeing 787, and a USB 3.0 hard drive.

Bleeding Edge TV 461: iPad mini Smart Cover review

Apple released a Smart Cover accessory for the iPad mini, a smaller version of the iPad Smart Cover that costs the same $39 that the larger version costs. We thought the original model was great, and in this episode we let you know how we feel about the mini version of the display protector and tablet stand combo. We've got a few complaints about the functionality of the iPad mini Smart Cover. Check out the video for our thoughts!

Alongside it's new iPad mini, Apple has released a smaller version of its Smart Cover as well. It works the same as the Smart Covers for the larger iPad tablet, connecting to the left side of the display with magnets, and also using magnet technology to wake the iPad mini up when the cover is opened, and putting it to sleep when closed. You can get the iPad mini Smart Cover for $29 on November 2.

Touch Cover for Microsoft Surface tablet sports multitouch keyboard

The first accessory announced for the new Microsoft Surface tablet today is the Touch Cover. A seemingly brilliant take on the tablet cover accessory, the Touch Cover serves as both a protective cover for Surface, as well as a full multitouch keyboard. You just open up the Surface kickstand, and the Touch Cover lays flat (3mm thin) and even registers typing faster than any other keyboard currently on the market, according to Microsoft. You get a full keyboard and touchpad. If that isn't your jam, you can opt for the Surface Type Cover instead.

It's available in six colors for $49 from the Apple Store, and we give you a look at how it works. This week Apple released the iPad Smart Case, a polyurethane product that covers and protects both the front and back of the the iPad shell. Compatible with both the iPad 2 and the new third-generation iPad, this is the first full case that Apple has offered for its popular tablet, and it's being sold for $49. Apple releases Smart Case for new iPad

Apple has announced the new Smart Case accessory for the new iPad. The Smart Case is similar to the Smart Cover that's been available since the iPad 2 shipped, but it protects both the front and back of the new iPad shell. It's available in six colors, and can even be personalized with free laser engraving, a first for an Apple accessory. The Smart Case also features the familiar tri-fold design that the Smart Cover has, allowing you to comfortably use the iPad to type and watch media. Black Friday 2011: Apple

Apple is set to discount some of its most popular products for Black Friday 2011. No word yet on if the stores are opening early, but you can get all the deals online as well as in-store, which is nice. Discounts on items like the iPad 2, iMac, MacBook Air, and iPod touch are just the tip of the iceberg, as Apple is also discounting a bunch of third-party accessories, including the Jawbone Up. Apple went back to the drawing board after their original iPad Case was found to not be the best design, and alongside the release of the iPad 2, they've got the Smart Cover. Using magnets to connect itself to the iPad, the Smart Cover is available in polyurethane or leather, and acts as a screen protector cleaner, and stand for the iPad 2. We give you a look at how it works.
