Apple adds to iPad Pro line with new 9.7-inch model, 256GB options

During its Let Us Loop You In event, Apple announced an expansion of the iPad Pro lineup, introducing a new 9.7-inch model that brings over all of the features from the larger 12.9-inch version, including support for the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Apple actually improved upon the specs of the larget iPad Pro, bringing features like True Tone display (which adjusts the white balance of the display on the fly, depending on the lighting conditions of the surrounding area), and better cameras to the mid-sized model - you get a 12 megapixel camera on the new model, compared to 8 megapixel on the larger version, and the front camera is 5 megapixels rather than 1.2 megapixels. Additionally, Apple is providing a rose gold color for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
One other change to the iPad Pro lineup is that, for the first time ever, iOS devices will be sold with a 256GB option. This applies to both iPad Pro models. You can pick up the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro starting at 32GB for $599, 128GB for $749, and 256GB for $899 for the Wi-Fi models. If you want Wi-Fi + Cellular, pricing is $729, $879, and $1029 respectively.

iPad Pro announced: 12.9-inch 2732x2048 display, 4 speakers, A9X chip
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Corporate News, Handhelds, PC / Laptop,
Apple has announced the new iPad Pro at today's Hey Siri, Give Us A Hint event. This is the largest iOS device yet, sporting a 12.9-inch display with a 2732x2048 resolution - that equates to 5.6 million pixels, which is more than even the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. In fact, as Apple points out, the length of the iPad Pro display when in landscape orientation is equal to that of two iPad Airs side-by-side. What that means is that you can run two full-sized standard iPad apps on the iPad Pro simultaneously, side-by-side.
As for ports, the iPad Pro has the standard Lightning connector that we're all used to for charging and syncing. Additionally, it has a new connector called the Smart Connector. This allows you to attach the new Apple Smart Keyboard.
The iPad Air Pro also sports a four speaker array. Two stereo speakers on the top, and two more on the bottom. Depending on the orientation and how you are holding the iPad, it will change the dynamics of the sound to optimize it for that specific scenario. Apple says that the iPad Pro at full volume is three times louder than the iPad Air 2 at full volume. This is been a big complaint with iPad in the past, since it was never great with sound.

We open up and give you a look at the Apple iPad Air 2, the 9.7-inch iOS tablet with 2048 x 1536 Retina display. The iPad Air 2 is 20% thinner than the original iPad Air, and sports the A8X 64-bit processor and 2GB RAM, making it super-fast and able to cache more app data. All of this, and the iPad Air 2 still maintains that fantastic 10-hour battery life.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 review

With the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft has switched up its strategy on its tablet PC, aiming to make it the best Windows laptop for the average consumer. This is the third attempt from the company at reinventing the laptop, bringing tablet parity into the product that runs on a full-on Intel Core i5 processor. It’s a large tablet. It’s a thin laptop. It’s a powerful 2 in 1. Is it the one for you, though?

Apple iPad Air 2: Thinner, faster, 8MP camera for $499
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories:
Apple has officially unveiled the iPad Air 2. iPad Air 2 is just 6.1mm thin, making it 18% thinner than the original iPad Air (and that was already 20% thinner then the iPad that preceded it.) Display components are now laminated together, reducing internal reflection, paired with an anti-reflection coating on the outside that reduced reflection by 56%, making it nicer to use when out and about. The iPad Air 2 is powered by the A8X processor, a 64-bit processor with 3 billion transistors that results in 40% faster CPU and 2.5x faster GPU (that’s 180x faster than the original iPad.)

Apple to reveal new iPad Air, Retina display iMac, and more this week
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds, PC / Laptop, Rumors,
About a month ago, Apple took the stage at the Flint Center to unveil the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Later this week, the company will hold another special event, then time to reveal this years iPad lineup, and if reports are correct, updated iMacs (including one with a Retina display.) We’ve heard conflicting reports as to whether the iPad mini will see an update at the event, or if that’ll come early next year, but we do know that the iPad Air will get an update that will make it lighter, slimmer, and more powerful.
Vietnamese leak site Tinhte.vn has already showed what’s purported to be the iPad Air 2 frame, which is thinner and sees the volume buttons recessed into the frame, and the inclusion of a Touch ID sensor, bringing the iPhone feature over to the Apple tablet family.
Meanwhile, fans of Apple’s desktop hardware have been waiting for a couple of years for the Retina display technology to make the jump from iOS devices and Apple notebooks over to the iMac. It appears that a 27-inch model that sports a 5K resolution may be prepped for Thursday as well, alongside a possible Mac mini refresh. OS X Yosemite may also launch on Thursday, as Apple has released three Golden Master candidates to developers so far.
We’ll have all the news here on Gear Live as it happens, and Apple will also have a live stream of the event as well.
