Lana Del Rey and Courtney LoveLana Del Rey is inspired by Courtney Love.

The "Summertime Sadness" hitmaker has always looked up to the Hole frontwoman and rock 'n' roll legend, so feels proud to count her among her friends these days:

"Courtney Love's a big inspiration. I like her, I talk to her a lot. I just went her show ... when she was playing in London. I like people who are similar to her, like Joni Mitchell types or Stevie Nicks, who are both strong female characters."

The 27-year-old star was strongly influenced by jazz legends Nina Simone and Billie Holliday on her second album Ultraviolence, and hopes she has done their musical legacy justice. Speaking on France Inter radio station's Laura Leishman Project show, she said, "It has a Pacific coast feel to me, I think it's guitar driven, there are references to Nina Simone. That's why I ended the track listing with a cover of 'The Other Woman.' I am inspired by early jazz culture. It's a West coast jazz fusion with a little bit of East coast fever."

"What I thought about love for my first nine albums is very different from what I think about it now after everything I've been through. My goal was to just be as honest as I could. You know, I'd gone through a lot in my life right at that point when I went on tour. I'd been through a divorce. A lot of things had happened. The writer and star of the huge HBO drama always puts her friend's records - famous for their tracks lamenting lost loves - when she's thinking of ideas for the show.

"She writes her own destiny in a way which is very unusual, especially for a young woman in the world of pop music. I wrote half of the first season of Girls listening to her Speak Now album and wrote much of the third season listening to Red," Lena said.

Lena, 27, is proud to call Taylor, 24, a friend and says she is always asking her for advice because she is very wise: "Taylor is a good friend of mine. I call her and text her all time. She helps me be stronger and make better decisions. She has amazing creative instincts. She's really a proponent of not feeling pressure from anybody else and recognizing that you have a better connection to what your 'brand' is than anybody else."

Taylor Momsen Wouldn’t Rule Out ‘Playboy’

Taylor MomsenTaylor Momsen has hinted she would pose naked for Playboy.

The Pretty Reckless singer - who shows off her nude butt on the front cover of the band's new album Going To Hell, which is available now - insists she would be happy to listen to offers from Hugh Hefner's famous magazine but insists the shoot would have to have a "purpose" to it.

"It's not something I'm pursuing. It would have to depend on a lot of factors [but] I don't rule anything out until it hits me in the face. It would depend on the shoot and if there was a purpose for it. I've done FHM and Maxim. FHM was based on the "My Medicine" video and the Maxim shoot was a take on the rock and roll lifestyle of New York City. Everything has to have a story behind it, not just, 'Taylor getting naked again.'"

The 20-year-old star appears naked in the video for her band's single "Heaven Knows," and she made the decision to take off her clothes for the promo because she wanted to create a live action version of the LP cover, which she describes as a "beautiful, iconic and artistic photograph."
