OPPO DV-983H Upconverting DVD Player
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: HDTV, Home Entertainment, Misc. Tech, Movies,
Just in time for Father’s Day, OPPO has released another upconverting DVD player. The DV-983H produces even better details, color, and a picture closer to HD. Hook it up to your HDTV and turn standard DVDs into high-def 1080p. The player can also convert PAL to NTSC and is multi-level zoom capable. And for those music videos, the DV offers 7.1 channel audio with Dolby Digital Surround EX. Your dad will probably hand you the keys to his vacation home if you present him with this as a gift at a price of $399.99, which can be purchased online at the OPPO store.
By the way, we got a look at the OPPO 980H PL unit and were incredibly impressed with it and all its features. However, if you do not have an HDTV it will not upconvert your standard DVDs.
(Thanks, Noe)

However, if you tend to lose yours, you can use the Whistle-and-Find to retrieve the lost gadgets. It comes with 3 caddies that you attach to your remotes and, of course, the whistle. At a price of $16.99, we were thinking we would love to have one for our car keys, our IDs, our cat, our kids…..

Venturer Digital-to-Analog Converter Box
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: HDTV, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Misc. Tech,
If you were one of those who jumped early on the DOC Digital to Analog TV coupon giveaway, then you probably know that you only have 90 days to use it and are probably close to the end of the line. We did some shopping over the weekend and found most Wal-marts were out of the converters. We did manage to find two at Targé. Although there was one from GE for about $60.00, we opted for the cheapy Venturer for $47.99. By the way, they add tax to the original cost before taking the price of the $40.00 coupon off, but two boxes for $21.74 is still a decent deal. And if you buy a digital TV before next February, we suspect there will be plenty of others who would love to have your converters.
