TweetBot for Mac now available in alpha form, Retina display-ready
The long-awaited Tweetbot for Mac has arrived! Well, sort of. All users running Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion can now download the Tweetbot for Mac alpha, totally for free during the alpha and beta stages. If you've used the iPad version of the app, you should feel right at home on the desktop version. It is fast and slick, and is already our favorite Twitter client for the Mac after just a couple of hours of use.
Tweetbot for Mac is optimized for the Retina display as well, so owners of the new MacBook Pro with Retina display (see our review) won't have to deal with fuzzy graphics.
There's no firm release date at this point, but Tweetbot developer Tapbots has said that the app will eventually be available on the Mac App Store for a fee when it's finally released, which will allow the app to work with iCloud and Notification Center. Until then, users can enjoy the app at no cost.
