Intel to Begin Production of Penryn in Q4

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, PC / Laptop

Penryn dieIntel has announced plans to begin making its next generation of processors, Penryn, during the latter part of this year. The company has more than fifteen 45nm Hi-k designs in different stages of development now. The next-generation of microarchitecture, codenamed Nehalem, will begin production by 2008.
Intel claims that the new development will produce “enormous performance and energy gains.” They are also using new materials in their transistors that keep electric current from leaking out which will extend the battery life in laptops. We just can’t wait for yet another jump in electronic technology, but until then we will just keep playing with the name Nehalem to see if it is an anagram for male hen or perhaps Ma Helen.
