Black Friday 2009: Best Buy ad
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, GPS, HDTV, Home Entertainment, Hot Deals, Portable Audio / Video, Storage, Wireless / WiFi,
Best Buy’s Black Friday 2009 ad has leaked, and it is chock-full of goodness, in our humble opinion. If you are a gamer, you’ll definitely want to take a look at some of the deals they’ve got on a bunch of titles, as well as console bundles. HDTVs are also drastically reduced in price, and they’ve even got a Blu-ray player for $99. Good times all around.

2009 Holiday Gift Guide: HP DreamScreen 100
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Displays, Smart Home, Wireless / WiFi, Family, Women, Men, Techies, Under $250,
Ever since the HP DreamScreen arrived on the scene, generic digital photo frames have seemed so passe. I mean, the DreamScreen is a digital photo frame on crack, essentially. It’s available in 10- and 13-inch sizes, and aside from simply displaying your digital photos, it can stream Pandora (or up to 10,000 Internet radio stations,) set alarms, display your calendar, show you a five-day weather forecast, and even give you a look at your Facebook account so you can see what’s up with your peeps. Plus, it incorporates touch into the bezel, and we like touch.
The HP DreamScreen typicalls sells for $250, but Amazon currently has it for $205, a full 18% off.

Sonos ZonePlayer S5 wireless music system, $399
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Home Entertainment, Music, Wireless / WiFi,
Sonos is looking to market to the iPhone and iPod touch crowd with their new ZonePlayer S5 wireless music system. If you’re familiar with Sonos, you know that the price of entry has always been a bit high historically. The ZonePlayer S5 brings that price down to about $400. You plug it in to a router, and you are good to go with the ability to play your entire music library, as well as music from services like Rhapsody, Napster, Last.fm, and others, by using your iPhone as the remote control.
The price rises if you don’t have an Ethernet port handy for the S5, as you would then also need to buy a ZoneBridge, which allows you to connect the ZonePlayer S5 (as well as any other ZonePlayers you have) to your network wirelessly. We definitely think this is a positive step in the right direction for Sonos. By adding an all-on-one ZonePlayer/speaker to their line-up at this much lower price point, they’ve made it enticing to check them out to see what all the fuss is about. We’d pick up a ZonePlayer S5 over a Bose Sounddock any day of the week.

Fitbit measures your fitness activity anywhere, doing anything
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Wearables, Internet, Wireless / WiFi,
We’ve been waiting for the Fitbit to drop for over a year now, and just when we thought it was going to turn out to be vaporware, the company has announced that this little fitness device is shipping. The Fitbit is a device that clips to your clothes, and it monitors many daily activities including distances traveled, exercise intensity, sleep patterns, as well as calorie consumption. The device contains a 3D motion sensor to obtain this certain information, and will transmit that data to the wireless base station when you are near it. You can then log on to the Fitbit site, and take a look at all sorts of data. The Fitbit has an OLED display with a battery life for about 10 days, and costs $99.

The i.VoicePRO 901 has “advanced noise-filtering software and voice separation technology to provide clear phone conversation.” If that isn’t enough to make your conversation clear, it also has wind resistance and echo cancellation.
You should be able to purchase the i.Tech Dynamic i.VoicePRO 901 on Amazon for about $79.99. Does anyone else think that it resembles a Jawbone?

TRENDnet’s Wireless N USB adapter is world’s smallest
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Accessories, USB, PC / Laptop, Wireless / WiFi,
We always get suspicious when we see the word’s “world’s smallest.” In today’s technological world, that claim doesn’t typically last too long.
It is TRENDnet who is making this claim on their “world’s smallest” Wireless N USB adapter, the TEW-648UB. It features Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) QoS so that your video, audio, and gaming activity gets prioritized, one-touch WPS technology, and will retail for a price of $24.99. Not bad.

Microsoft’s Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000 is their thinnest ever
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Accessories, Microsoft, PC / Laptop, Peripherals, Wireless / WiFi,
Clearly, revealing the Courier tablet prototype was not enough for Microsoft, as they have topped themselves once again. This time, the company produced their skinniest keyboard to date, and this Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000 is totally wireless.
There is no Bluetooth dongle included, so make sure your computer has Bluetooth built-in before making the purchase. The keyboard is powered by 3 AAA batteries, while the numeric keypad takes just one AAA. Both will be available in October, $90 for the combo, and $45 for just the number pad, if that’s all you want.
