The Veronicas felt they were being “f**ked over” when they tried to make it in the US.
The Australian duo - made up of twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso - thought everyone was against them when they first signed to their US label.
“Suddenly, we were on the other side of the world. Our parents didn’t come over, we didn’t have any friends. All we had was this big record deal, and a lot of people would have lost the plot in that situation. We went through the whole process of people trying to f*** us over, tell us what to wear. And at the start, that was hard,” Lisa said.
The 24-year-old siblings found it difficult to focus on their on their trademark electro-pop songs because record executives wanted them to develop an R&B undertone similar to “Rehab” singer Rihanna.
“We were being influenced by things such as electro-pop, which, at the time in America, was an underground thing - there was no Katy Perry or Lady Gaga at that point. But when we expressed a desire to do that, they were, like, ‘No, no, we want to hook you up with the guy who did Rihanna’s stuff,” Jessica explained. “It wasn’t easy at all. We were told that none of our songs were hits, and they wouldn’t get released in America. A couple of months after it was released as we wanted it, the biggest station in New York picked ‘Untouched’ up. And then it sold 1.5 million downloads. That’s embarrassing for them.”

Pixie Lott was so introverted before she went to school her family worried she may never speak. “We were really worried about her when she was little,” her mother told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “We thought something was wrong but it turned out she was just painfully shy. She didn’t really start talking until she went to school. I thank her stage school Italia Conti for drawing her out of herself.”
The “Mama Do (Uh Oh Uh Oh)” singer may have learned to deal with her nerves, but she has also had to grasp other skills since becoming famous - including dealing with unwanted admirers. The 19-year-old beauty recently had to politely decline The Wrestler actor Mickey Rourke‘s advances.

After numerous years seated behind a drum set, musician Phil Collins has been forced to place the sticks down. The former Genesis singer says its far too painful for him to take up the instrument now.
The 58-year-old, who recently saw Mike Tyson imitate his “In The Air Tonight” solo in The Hangover, had been playing for most of his life. His stint with Genesis lasted 26 years before he moved on to a successful solo career.

Whitney Houston unveils I Look to You video
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Music Videos, The Charts, Pop, R&B / Soul,
Whitney Houston’s GMA performance may have had its flaws (it’s all your fault, Oprah!), but she’s looking flawless here.
In this new video for “I Look to You,” the diva comes very close - very close - to making us all forget her years on Being Bobby Brown. (Though I’m secretly hoping she won’t.)
This clip arrives just after Houston’s CD of the same name hit #1 on the album charts. The last time the artist achieved that (outside of The Bodyguard soundtrack) was in 1987 with Whitney.

Simon Cowell has blasted The Beatles, claiming they would have failed auditions on The X Factor.
The music mogul - who once rejected the Spice Girls, the best-selling girl group of all time - says he would have kicked the iconic band off his British TV talent show unless they fired drummer Ringo Starr. “If The Beatles came on the show we would have said, ‘We’ll take those three - Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison - but probably lose the drummer,’” the 49-year-old said. “With Ringo, I’m afraid, we would have said ‘bad news’.”
Speaking in a US television interview with his Britain’s Got Talent co-star Amanda Holden, Simon also revealed what drives him. “I like winning, Amanda. That’s what excites me,” Cowell admitted.
Simon is now focusing on the career of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, who will perform on the final of America’s Got Talent next week. Her debut album is due for release in November, and is expected to shoot to the top of the charts in America and Britain.
Muse’s Bout of Stage Fright
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Alternative, Rock,
The band members of Muse were hit with a bout of stage fright before performing a recent homecoming show. The group - made up of singer Matthew Bellamy, bassist Christopher Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard - was so nervous about playing the highly-anticipated concert in their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon, they thought they would have a heart attack on stage.
“I’m totally s***ting myself. We’re very nervous. We’ve not played for over a year, so we’re probably completely unfit and will have a heart attack after two songs! There’s going to be s**t loads of people we know there as well. It’ll be the first gig we’ve ever done where it’s like that. I still live in Teignmouth so I’m gonna recognize most of the people in the crowd. Part of me’s going to have to switch off a bit and pretend it’s just a normal gig,” Chris said.
