Cyndi Lauper Believes That Modern Music is Too Sexual
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Pop,
Cyndi Lauper thinks modern pop music is too sexually-orientated.
The 59-year-old singer believes too many songs released now are about X-rated subjects and she is concerned about the effect it could be having on listeners. In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Cyndi - who is releasing her autobiography Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir this month - said, "One young woman walked up to me recently at a concert and thanked for me my work 'in the midst of all this rape music.' I never thought of it like that, but so much music nowadays is about sex, sex, sex and is quite aggressive. She called it rape music. I thought, 'Oh my God, I guess she's right.' I just try to write music that connects with people's conscience and make music for awake people rather than sleepwalkers."
The "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" hitmaker looked back on her entire life while penning her book, including her jobs before she became a pop star.

Brandon Flowers’ Obsolete Worry

Brandon Flowers is always worried The Killers will be "obsolete."
The 31-year-old singer admits he has found writing the band's fourth album Battle Born to be his toughest yet because he is nervous fans of the group's music will have moved on: "The expectation seems to increase with every album. It doesn't get any easier - you want to earn your keep. It's the hardest thing I've done. I'm always worried that people are going to have moved on, that something will have happened to make us obsolete, but I think we'll be OK. This who thing has happened so fast that's it's always real hard for us to understand."
However, Brandon does admit he has begun taking singing lessons so he can put more strength in his vocals. "Yeah I want to be stronger. I heard that the male voice isn't mature until you're about 33, and I'm almost there, so I thought, 'You might as well exercise this sucker,'" He added to Britain's ELLE.
Alanis Morissette: Songs Can’t Help Heartbreak

Alanis Morissette thinks writing songs can't heal heartbreak.
The 38-year-old singer discovered a more mature outlook on songwriting with her seventh album Havoc and Bright Lights after she realized her angst-ridden songs couldn't mend her broken heart and music is just a form of art: "I used to think that writing a song about something would heal it. After singing 'You Oughta Know' 450,000 times, I was still pretty hung up. I realized that art is just a beautiful form of expression."
The singer - who has 20-month-old son Ever with husband Mario "Souleye" Treadway - shot to fame in 1995 with her iconic angry anthems on Jagged Little Pill album, but despite now pioneering a more uplifting musical style, she still loves listening to depressing music. "One of my favourite songs at the moment is Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know,' that idea of someone with whom you were so intimate now being a stranger is painful and gorgeous," she said.

No Doubt's party room has been turned into a creche.
The chart-topping group - made up of Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont - are set to go on tour again following the release of their new album "Push and Shove," and they admit their partying days are a long behind them now they all have young families.
"I can't wait to get out there and play this (record) live. Everybody has their own tour bus now and we have a traveling caravan. So when we get to the venue the nannies set up the romper room, which is the room that used to be our backstage party room, with the DJ and the bar. That's gone now and it's for the kids," said Gwen, who has sons Kingston, six, and Zuma, four, with husband Gavin Rossdale.
"Things have changed since we last put a record out. We now go on tour with our families. But then we've always been a big family anyway. We've just expanded," Tony added to The Sun.

Dr. Dre Named Hip-Hop’s Highest Earner

Dr. Dre has been named hip hop's highest earner.
The rap mogul may still not have released his long-awaited Detox, album but he made an estimated $110 million last year, largely thanks to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphone collection, which saw him earn $100 million when HTC bought a 51 per cent stake in the company for $300 million.
P. Diddy was ranked second on the list with $45 million, with a huge percentage of his income coming from his share of profits for Diageo's Ciroc vodka, while third-placed Jay-Z brought in more than half of his $38 million through business deals including ownership stakes in cosmetics company Carol's Daughter, the Brooklyn Nets and a joint venture with Duracell.
Former Def Jam President Kevin Liles - who now manages a number of hip-hop artists - says it is typical for his acts to make a lot of their money from endorsements:
