On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

So the current pop culture fixation on vampires (thank you, Twilight) hasn't died down, but at least we've got Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov and producer Tim Burton to thank for what looks like a promising new bloodsucker movie with a new (albeit, imaginative) retelling of one of our country's most famous presidents.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter -- based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, whom you may recall also penned the bestseller Pride and Prejudice and Zombies -- plays out the revised tale in which our 16th president goes on a personal quest to eliminate as many vamps as he can after learning that they caused the deaths of his mother and grandfather.

Michael MannMichael Mann is set to direct The Big Stone Grid.

The director is in talks to helm the police drama, which is about two decorated detectives who uncover a terrifying extortion ring that operates within the secret underbelly of New York City. Sony Pictures bought S. Craig Zahler's scribe script last year and Michael De Luca is set to produce.

However, sources say he is likely to change the script once he looks over it and could even relocate to Los Angeles. Mann is likely to next direct Go Like Hell, the duel between Ford vs. Ferrari for sports car supremacy in the 60s that he is developing at Fox. He's also executive producing the HBO series Luck with David Milch.

Mann recently said working on a TV show was no different from being on a movie set: "Everything we do on Luck is absolutely no different than if we'd had been doing it in a feature film. There's no short cuts. The specificity of what every single line might mean. Everything Dustin Hoffman does. Kevin Dunn is as authentic in the last scene of the last episode as he is in the first scene of the first episode. He hasn't said to himself, 'Oh wow, this works, I'm wonderful.' There's none of that vanity. It's just great, authentic work. And John Ortiz, he's world-class.''

Peter Jackson to direct the Tintin sequelPeter Jackson will direct the Tintin sequel.

Steven Spielberg revealed the Lord of the Rings helmer will be in charge of the second Tintin movie after the pair struck a deal before the first installment of the animated project.

"Peter [Jackson]'s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we made a deal. I said, 'I'll direct the first one, you direct the second one.' And Peter, of course, is going to do it right after he finishes photography on The Hobbit. He'll go right into the 31, 21 days of performance capture. We're not telling the world what books we're basing the second movie on yet," Spielberg said.

Despite Steven refusing to reveal which tomes will be used on the second Tintin movie, producer Kathleen Kennedy recently hinted The Calculus Affair is a strong possibility.

Michael BayMichael Bay will direct Transformers 4.

Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has confirmed the filmmaker - who was at the help of the first three Transformers movies in the series - will take charge of the blockbuster, which is set to be released in the summer of 2014.

"Yeah Michael's gonna direct and it'll be releasing in the summer of 2014. We're excited and I think the challenge there is we really are gonna do a reboot, and what that's gonna be we don't even know yet," Di Bonaventura said.

But Lorenzo admitted there will be "a lot" of new cast members in the movie as no one from the previous three films has signed up yet: "It's a hybrid because there's still continuity going on, and there will be a lot of new cast. Whether there's anybody from the first cast, we don't even know yet. But it's going to be a whole new story."

Viggo Mortensen at the Golden Globe AwardsViggo Mortensen believes an actor's performance can be ruined by editing.

The A Dangerous Method actor revealed he was shocked when watching a film he had made to find that the director had cut his lines and put in a whole new sentence by putting together words he had said in other scenes.

''A director decided he didn't like me saying what he had shot and took words I'd said on other scenes and cobbled a new sentence together. I was stunned.''

Filmmaker David Cronenberg who has worked with Viggo on three movies, crime thrillers A History of Violence and Eastern Promises and most recently A Dangerous Method, admitted directors do have the power to completely change an actor's performance in the editing suite: "I spend weeks with the actor in the editing room, looking at every nuance. Even the rhythm of their breathing as they speak. It can really reshape a performance. You hear people say, 'My performance was destroyed in the editing room' It can actually happen."

Henry CavillHenry Cavill is in negotiations to star in The Great Wall. The British actor - who is set to be the next Superman in movie Man of Steel - has entered talks to play the as-yet-unknown leading role in the movie, co-written by Love & Other Drugs director Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.

Little is known about the project other than it will tell the tale of the construction of the huge wall which was built to separate China from its neighbors to the north. It began being made in the 5th century BC but has been demolished and re-created a number of times since.

Thomas Tull and Max Brooks came up with the idea for the film, which is being housed by Legendary East.

Mission: Impossible 4 - Ghost ProtocolMission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is the most successful film in the movie series' franchise. The Brad Bird-directed film - which sees Tom Cruise return as operative Ethan Hunt, alongside Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg - has made $571 million worldwide since its release late last year, and studio Paramount has admitted it is delighted with the success.

"Brad Bird, Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and the entire team who worked on M:I4 created an incredibly entertaining film, one that fans worldwide embraced in record numbers," said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman of Paramount. Mission: Impossible II is the next most successful film in the franchise, earning $546 million worldwide.

Brad has previously joked he was terrified about being the director who killed off Tom when he made him hang off the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai for the fourth installment of the movie: "I think every director that has worked with him in these kinds of films probably has that feeling where your eyes snap open at three in the morning and you go, 'My god, what am I doing?' Definitely."

Demi MooreDemi Moore was "devastated" to lose her role in Lovelace.

The Hollywood actress - who has been replaced by Sarah Jessica Parker in the role of feminist Gloria Steinem in the movie about real-life porn actress Linda Lovelace - is said to have cited a "personal crisis" as to why she pulled out of the movie appearance after being hospitalized last week, according to the film's producers.

Heidi Jo Markel - who is producing the motion picture with Jim Young and Laura Rister - told People, "It was a shock and a concern for all of us. We got a call from [Moore's representative] on Tuesday morning and said, 'There's been a personal crisis and we need to let you know that.' And we were clueless. We had no idea what it entailed. We just knew she was out, that there was probably a health concern, and to move on."

Demi was rushed to the Sherman Oaks Hospital last Monday evening where she was treated for exhaustion after suffering a seizure at a birthday party she was hosting at her home. But her director friend Patty Jenkins says the brunette beauty is now recovering: "I just saw her and she's doing great. I think she's doing much better than it's made out to be. Demi is awesome and so strong. I also hate when people make it a bigger drama than what is going on. She's great."

Rooney MaraRooney Mara has replaced Blake Lively in Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects.

Her problems increase when she is forced to come to terms with her husband being released from prison after three years, and she begins an affair with her doctor.

Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones are also set to star in the movie, which has been written by Scott Z. Burns. Greg Jacobs and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are producing the film, and shooting begins in April.

The role will be Rooney's first major signing since appearing in the English language version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo alongside Daniel Craig.
