‘Nymphomaniac’ Producer Talks Superimposed Sex Scenes

Little truth has been spilled about Lars von Trier's upcoming film Nymphomaniac, and while many who work on the film would like to keep it that way, its producer Louise Vesth opened up about some of the new techniques the Danish director will be implementing in the sex scenes.
When actor Shia LaBeouf went around claiming that he'd be having real sex on camera, he was only partially correct. Instead, von Trier will film the sex scene twice: once with the actors and again with their doubles. In post-production, the doubles' nether regions will be superimposed onto the actors', making it appear as though they were truly getting physical.
“We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles who really did have sex and in post we will digital impose the two. So above the waist it will be the star and the below the waist it will be the doubles," Vesth explained.
The complicated post-production work cost the film an unveiling at Cannes, but it is expected to hit theaters this December.

Justin Timberlakes Helps Co-Stars’ Cannes Experience

Justin Timberlake has been helping fellow stars enjoy the Cannes Film Festival experience.
The actor-and-musician has been at the annual event - which runs from 15 to 26 May - with his Inside Llewyn Davis cast-mates and he's been helping everyone make the most of the opportunity. At the screening of the drama on Sunday, the actors were assembled on the steps of the theater before being rushed into their seats and Justin's co-star John Goodman realized he didn't have time to get through the crowd to take a photograph of their big moment.
"As they were yanking us in I said, 'Give me your phone' and I jetted out there. I took a picture of it and brought it back in and gave it to him. Everything around here is late except for the screening of the movie," the 32-year-old star told USA Today.

Seth MacFarlane Turns Down 2014 Oscars

Seth MacFarlane has confirmed he will not be hosting next year's Oscars.
The actor-and-comedian hosted this year's 85th Academy Awards and was asked to return in 2014 despite being criticized for his divisive humor making for a controversial show in February. However, the Ted director has taken to his Twitter account and announced he will not be returning to join this year's producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron for a second year.
"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix," he wrote.
When news broke last month Seth had been offered the chance to lead next year's ceremony, he was said to be unsure whether to accept - particularly after he dedicated four months in preparation for this year's event.

Though Star Trek Into Darkness didn't hit theaters as impressively as Iron Man 3 did two weeks ago, it still fared well garnering $70.5 million.
Despite holding the top spot for two consecutive weeks, Iron Man 3 came in second with $35.1 million while both The Great Gatsby and Pain and Gain also fell one spot to numbers three and four with $23.4 million and $3.1 million, respectively. The Croods, however, fared well, moving up two spots from number seven to number five with $2.7 million.

Getting Into Character: Ferrell and Applegate in ‘Anchorman 2’

Anchorman fans residing in New York City received a special treat this week, catching a glimpse of the film's sequel being shot in the streets - including a first look at Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate back in their '70's attire.
Though the Anchorman: The Legend Continues production has been spotted in Atlanta and New Orleans, these are the first photos taken from the set since its relocation to the Big Apple. Hopefully New Yorkers will be given the chance to see one (or more!) of the numerous A-list celebrities planned to appear in the comedy, including Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Kirsten Dunst, Sacha Baron Cohen, Vince Vaughn, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson, and more. If not, we'll just have to wait to see all of their cameos when the film hits theaters December 20.

Scientist Names Ancient Creature After Johnny Depp

While Johnny Depp has already become immortalized in the films he has made throughout his career, the Transcendence actor will now always be remembered by the scientific community as the inspiration for naming a recently discovered ancient animal.
Working on his PhD at Imperial College London, David Legg carried out research concerning a 505 million year old fossil of a creature that he dubbed Kooteninchela deppi, after Depp's character in the classic Tim Burton film, Edward Scissorhands. Legg, admittedly a fan of the 49 year old star explained his thought process in naming the fossil (see what it looks like after the jump):
“When I first saw the pair of isolated claws in the fossil records of this species I could not help but think of Edward Scissorhands. Even the genus name, Kootenichela, includes the reference to this film as ‘chela’ is Latin for claws or scissors. In truth, I am also a bit of a Depp fan and so what better way to honor the man than to immortalize him as an ancient creature that once roamed the sea?”

Emma Watson watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians to prepare for The Bling Ring.
The 23-year-old actress plays Nicki, a celebrity burgling teenager in Sofia Coppola's new movie and Emma watched reality TV so she could "understand the psychology" of her character. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, she said, "I watched a lot of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Hills, and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible. I didn't want her to be just a parody. The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect. I also thought a lot about what her parents must have been like."
The movie is based on the real-life story of a group of teenagers who broke into the homes of celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Orlando Bloom but Emma insists the film is not just another heist movie. "This really isn't a heist movie. It was about how these kids wanted to pretend for just two hours or so that they were actually Paris Hilton and living that life," she explained.
Christoph Waltz Worried Nationality Would Hurt His Career

Christoph Waltz was worried being half-Austrian and half-German would affect his career. The Oscar-winning actor almost quit acting when he was told he was unlikely to break Hollywood and would probably be cast in supporting roles as a German Nazi for the rest of his life because of his thick Austrian accent.
"I was introduced to Paul Kohner years ago, who was the most powerful agent in the 30s. He was at the end of his career and I was at the beginning of my career - he actually knew my grandfather. He said, 'Of course I can do something for you in Hollywood, that's not the problem. But you have to ask yourself, do you want to spend the rest of your life walking through the background yelling "Heil Hitler?"' And that was probably the most valuable thing he said to me. I said, 'No, thank you,' and went back to Europe."
Christoph, 56, is ironically best known for his Best Supporting Actor Oscar win for his role as Nazi Colonel Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.

Jessica Alba will "never stop acting."
Although the 32-year-old actress is branching out into other ventures, such as her lifestyle book The Honest Life, she'll always return to her main creative passion and since becoming a mother to Honor, five, and Haven, three, she's become "fearless" when choosing roles.
"I'm still so passionate about acting and have that as a creative outlet, and it's a big part of who I am; I'll never stop acting. [Having my kids] was the best time of my life. I love it - I feel more fearless as an actress after becoming a mother, which is quite liberating. I'm ready to take on heavier roles, where before I was nitpicky and afraid of so many things."
In 2012, Jessica launched her business The Honest Company - an eco-friendly business which specializes in organically-produced nappies, baby wipes and bath products - and she admits the launch did push her acting aside:

‘The Great Gatsby’ Kicks Off Cannes Film Festival

The Great Gatsby opened the Cannes Film Festival last night.
Several stars from the film including Leonardo DiCaprio - who plays main character Jay Gatsby - Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Amitabh Bachchan took to the red carpet in the rain for the premiere of Baz Luhrmann's drama movie to launch the 66th annual film gala.
DiCaprio looked dapper in a smart black suit and admitted taking on the lead role in the motion picture - which is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's popular novel - carried "enormous pressure." He told BBC News, "What is so great about this novel and why people still discuss it nearly 100 years later and still have arguments about the meaning of each sentence and each word and each bit of symbolism, is because it's left up to the interpretation of you as a reader. In a way it's a recipe for disaster because so many people are going to say, 'That's not how I felt Daisy should be or how Gatsby should be.' I just looked at it as an incredible character to take on, something that was subtle in its approach but had so much depth and meaning in every single line."
