Eddie Murphy Is Hollywood’s Most Over-Paid Actor
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Casting, Celebrity Gossip,
Eddie Murphy has been named the most over-paid actor in Hollywood.
The 51-year-old actor - whose recent films Imagine That, A Thousand Words and Meet Dave were all labeled flops - is reportedly no longer popular at the box office despite being paid a huge amount of money to star in huge number of movies. According to Forbes magazine, for every $1 Eddie was paid for his last three movies, they returned an estimated average of $2.30.
His movie Tower Heist, which was released last year also failed to wow audiences and earned just over double its budget of $75 million.
Earlier this year, Eddie revealed he is in talks to make a Beverly Hills Cop TV show. One of the comedian and actor's best loved roles was as wise cracking detective Axel Foley in the three action/comedy films of the late 80s and he's working on bringing him back. "What I'm trying to do with Beverly Hills Cop now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I'd do the pilot, show up here and there," he said.

Helen Mirren Hated Hitchcock

Helen Mirren hated Alfred Hitchcock when they first met.
The Oscar-winning actress plays the iconic director's wife Alma Reville in new biopic Hitchcock, but she has revealed she once endured a disastrous audition for the filmmaker's thriller Frenzy in the early 1970s because she felt he disliked the way she looked.
"When I was a very young actress I was sent for an audition with him. I don't think he would have auditioned me; I think he either thought you looked right or you didn't. I was arrogant and ignorant and, at that time, he was just not my kind of film director... So, I didn't really like him, and I know he didn't like me very much. He certainly didn't cast me. He took one look at me and went, 'Oh, good God. She's going to be a nightmare'... I didn't want to do it because all those roles were horrible anyway," she told The Huffington Post.

‘Evil Dead’ Remake Promises to Be the Scariest Film You’ll See
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Classics, Horror, Remakes, Distribution, Upcoming Releases,
The folks behind the Evil Dead remake are pretty confident that the new film will scare your socks skin off - according to the film's new poster, anyway.
With folks from the original on board (Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are producing) and Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody aiding with the script, perhaps the new version won't be all that bad. Then again, remaking such a cult-classic like Evil Dead is risky business! The film hits theaters April 12, 2013.

Police Tasered Jake Gyllenhaal
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Thrillers, Celeb News, Filmmaking, New Releases,
Jake Gyllenhaal was tasered while researching his new movie.
The Brokeback Mountain actor plays the role of a policeman in End Of Watch and while out on a ride with the police, they asked if he wanted to feel what it was like to have the debilitating electrical current run through his body - although he regretted saying yes afterwards.
"I got tasered, which wasn't as funny at the time. The guys asked me if I wanted to feel what it was like I said, 'Yeah, f**k it.' They put a wire on my chest, the other one on my leg and let the current run through me. It was five seconds, but it was jarring."
Discussing his career, Jake admits he has been close to playing superheroes in a number of films previously, but now claims he is more focused on being a better actor rather than winning a particular part: "At a certain point, you realize there's always some more interesting, talented and ready to do a role than you are - and you won't get every role you for. All I want right now is to hone my skills and become a better actor, not dream about wearing a cape. But you never know."
Grant Bowler: Working with Lohan Was Maddening
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Biopics, Drama, Period, Romance, Celebrity Gossip, New Releases,
Grant Bowler found working with Lindsay Lohan an "exercise in patience."
The Australian actor thinks filming Liz & Dick - in which he plays Richard Burton to her Elizabeth Taylor - should have run "smoother and he was frustrated over the time some things took on the TV movie.
"There were exercises in patience and there were exercises in tolerance. I believe it could have been smoother at times, it could have been a lot smoother at times and we could have got a lot more done on a couple of days, but you get what you're given. My focus was whether we could knuckle down and get a film made. We certainly took our time in a lot of ways when I would have preferred to be shooting."
Grant admits the delays to filming left him "mad," but he tried to focus on doing the best job he possibly could. "Well, you know, yeah. But a part of the job is you're off when you're off, you're on when you're on and you're focused. Every single job is an opportunity to get better at my job, I've been doing this for 22 years and all I care about at the end of the day is how well I do my job and how well I serve my audience," he said when asked if he was mad.
Matthew McConaughey Opens up About Weight Loss

Matthew McConaughey admits he has a lot less energy since his dramatic weight loss.
The 43-year-old actor - who sparked concern after he recently dropped 38 pounds from his already lean frame for his role as an AIDS patient in the new movie The Dallas Buyer's Club - revealed his grueling diet has taken a toll and he can't wait to eat a cheeseburger.
"'Overall, [I've] probably got 35 percent less energy, but there's been plateaus. Getting past 170 was really hard, but then once you get [to] 167 the next seven come off easy. Got down to 143 and that's where I want to be. So, once you get past the plateau, your body seems to understand, 'OK, this is where we're leaving now, this is where we are' and so the energy rises. Your organs [and] muscles shrink, your organs shrink [and] my stomach has shrunk as well," he said.
