Tom Hiddleston Cast in Ben Wheatley’s Adaptation of ‘High Rise’

Tom Hiddleston is a busy man.
From playing Loki in The Avengers films to starring in Shakespeare's Coriolanus (to rave reviews, mind you!) at London's Donmar Warehouse, the 32-year-old actor will now take on the lead in an upcoming adaptation of the JG Ballard novel, High Rise.
The film takes place in the future, where technology is so advanced that inhabitants of an apartment building need not venture to the outside world for any of their needs; however, trouble begins when the power starts to fail and the differing levels of the building - equated with societal classes - turn to violence.
Set to begin production in June, Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Sightseers) will direct while Jeremy Thomas - who has been trying to get the film made for 30 years - will produce.

Matthew McConaughey: I Wanted Frightening Roles

Matthew McConaughey wanted to take on film roles that "scare" him.
The actor, who has been nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a real-life AIDS victim in Dallas Buyers Club, made a conscious decision not to take a part in another romantic comedy, after appearing in How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days and Failure to Launch.
"I'm not going to carry on doing the same thing over and over. I was reading romantic comedies. And I liked them. But I wanted to do something that scares me a little bit. The first move was saying 'no' to scripts. That was six months of 'no' and then a year of nothing. And something happened. I gained anonymity and suddenly it became a good idea for William Friedkin [director] to call about Killer Joe or Steven Soderbergh about Magic Mike."
The 44-year-old star admits it was difficult not working for so long but he found comfort in his family, spending time with his wife Camila and their children, 13-month-old Livingston, Vida, four, and Levi, five.

Zac Efron in Talks for ‘Star Wars’

Zac Efron is in talks to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII.
The That Awkward Moment actor has met with movie bosses about a role in the new episode of the sci-fi franchise, which has recently been acquired by Disney. When asked if he'd take a part in the movie, he told MTV, "Yeah, I just went and met with them. So I don't know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies], but... who knows?"
Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams and actors linked to roles include Michael Fassbender, Michael B. Jordan (Efron's That Awkward Moment co-star), Saoirse Ronan, Jesse Plemons, Adam Driver and Hugo Weaving.
It has also been rumored many of the actors from the original trilogy - shot in the 70s and 80s - such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker could reprise their roles.

‘Back To The Future’ to Become a Musical

Back To The Future is being turned into a musical.
A stage version of the hit 1985 movie - which starred Michael J. Fox as time-traveling teen Marty McFly - has been given the green light to debut in London's West End in 2015.
Robert Zemeckis, who co-wrote and directed the original film, will team up with co-writer Bob Gale once again to pen the adaptation. "[It will be true to the spirit of the film without being a slavish remake. We intend to use music from the movie along with brand new songs to make a version of Back to the Future that is fresh, entertaining and takes advantage of all the amazing things that can now be done on stage. We can't think of a better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film," Gale commented.
Alan Silvestri will co-write the music and lyrics with songwriter Glen Ballard, while Jamie Lloyd - who directed James McAvoy last year in a sell-out production of Macbeth in London - is on board to direct.

Michael Keaton: Robocop Costume a “Sissy Suit”

Michael Keaton claims the new Robocop costume is a "sissy suit."
The actor - who appears in the cyborg cop reboot as Raymond Sellers, CEO of the evil Omnicorp organization - joked the special effects armor Joel Kinnaman had to wear as the title character wasn't a patch on the rubber suit he had to don to play Batman in 1989.
"That sissy suit - they have air conditioning in it. [When I played Batman] I couldn't do [any] of that because I couldn't get up to go the bathroom. They put me in this thing and inside, honestly, I started having panic attacks. Literally, panic attacks. So, I thought, 'I don't know how I'm going to do this, man. I'm feeling really, really scared.'"
While costume design has come on since the 80s, Joel said his 45lb suit was still difficult to wield, and took almost two hours to put on each day. "It was a bit of a challenge to put on. It was so uncomfortable, it was digging in everywhere, it was pressing down on my shoulders, and I was sweating like a pig. After twenty minutes, I said, 'I gotta get out of this!' And then, it was a daunting idea that I was going to have to wear this for 14 hours a day, six days a week for five months," he said.

if you've ever wondered what 1,000 Ways to Die would be like if it were set in a fictional town during the American Old West, Seth MacFarlane has answered your prayers.
In his upcoming A Million Ways to Die in the West, the Family Guy creator - who co-wrote and directed the film - stars as Albert, a nobody-type guy who falls for Charlize Theron's character, who in turn teaches him how to become a good enough gunslinger to rival Liam Neeson's villainous outlaw. The comedy - which, judging from the trailer (seen above), seems to deliver on the gore - also stars Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, and Neil Patrick Harris and hits theaters on May 30.

Rita Ora’s “Shocking” ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Role

Rita Ora's part in 50 Shades of Grey will be "shocking."
The "R.I.P." singer has her first big-screen speaking part as lead character Christian Grey's sister, Mia, in the hotly anticipated erotic thriller, and promises audiences they will be surprised by the content of the movie. "It's gonna be the biggest and most amazing shock ever," she told MTV.
Rita has previously had acting roles in 2004 independent film Spivs and a small part in Fast and Furious 6, but this is the first time she is to appear in a major production with a full role, and admits she was nervous: "I was nervous because it was the first time I ever did a movie with words. But it was so nice. The director, Sam Taylor Johnson, she was incredible, so it was all love."
Rita beat Rihanna to claim the part in Fast and Furious 6 which could be one of the reasons the "Bottom's Up" singer reportedly snubbed her at various Grammy Awards parties over the weekend but spoke to her boyfriend, Calvin Harris. "Rihanna deliberately kept her distance. She talked with Calvin at length but didn't acknowledge Rita. It was awkward because they have the same management team and move in exactly the same circles. Rihanna's never been much of a fan of Rita because her style is so similar and they compete over songs," a source said.

With few newcomers this past weekend, it was easy for the Ice Cube and Kevin Hart buddy cop comedy, Ride Along, to maintain its top box office position. The runner-ups in second and third place - Lone Survivor and The Nut Job - also remained in their box office positions.
Ride Along took in $21.2 million while Lone Survivor and The Nut Job took in $12.9 million and $12.1 million, respectively. Frozen came up one spot to number four from last week with $9.1 million while Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit pulled in $9 million, dropping down one spot to number five.

Quentin Tarantino to Sue Gawker Over Script Leak

Quentin Tarantino is suing Gawker for leaking his script for The Hateful Eight.
The Oscar-winning Django Unchained' director decided to pull the plug on the proposed cowboy film last week when it leaked, and is now suing the website which made it widely available on the internet.
"Gawker Media has made a business of predatory journalism, violating people's rights to make a buck ... This time they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff's screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally," the lawsuit states.
The director is demanding at least $1 million for Gawkers actions. The site was not the original source of the script leak, but Quentin blames them for making it available to the public, despite having said he was planning to publish it himself.
