Lindsay Lohan Replaces Katie Holmes
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
No, Linds isn’t hooking up with Tom Cruise…but she is stepping into the movie role recently vacated by his wife. Lohan will take on the female lead in The Other Side, a role which received heavy input from Katie Holmes, who was all set to take on the project.
David Michaels, who will direct the film, said he and Holmes shared many ideas and discussions while Cruise worked on Valkyrie. Funding for the flick fell off for a while, however, and finally Holmes had to bow out of the project. She went on to Broadway and All My Sons.
This left the door open for Lindsay Lohan, whom I guess got the role because of her very wide availability (it’s been a while since Linds had any film work). She’ll join a cast that includes Jason Lee, Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews, Woody Harrelson and Giovanni Ribisi.

Casting Corner: Diane Kruger, Woody Harrelson, George Clooney
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Columbia Pictures, DreamWorks, Universal, Weinstein Company, Adaptation, Drama, Horror, Period, Comedy, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Quentin Tarantino has finally injected a bit of estrogen into his growing Inglorious Bastards cast. Diane Kruger - probably best known for her work in the National Treasure installments - has just been added to the WWII-era film.
Kruger, who was born in Germany, will play Bridget Von Hammersmark, a German actress who helps a group of American Nazi killers. (That group is lead by Aldo Raine, Brad Pitt’s character.) The role will allow Diane to speak in both English and her native tongue.
This will be the second time Kruger has worked with the father of six. The two both starred in 2004’s Troy.
Inglorious Bastards - also starring Eli Roth, Mike Myers and B.J. Novak - begins filming in Germany on October 13.

Casting Corner: Ed Helms, Kate Hudson, Woody Harrelson
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sony, Weinstein Company, Adaptation, Musicals, Science Fiction, Comedy, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Assuming negotiations end well, Ed Helms will be temporarily setting aside his stapler to star in a new Todd Phillips (School for Scoundrels) film. The role would be The Office‘s star first lead in a motion picture.
In Hangover, Helms and Bradley Cooper (Alias) will play two of three friends who lose a groom-to-be during a Vegas bachelor party-outing. No actor has yet been cast as the third bud.
Although a release date hasn’t been announced, the comedy is currently entering pre-production. In the meantime, fans of Helms should hurry up to see Meet Dave before it disappears from theaters.

Wesley Snipes Gets Three Years in Jail
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy,
If there’s anying we’ve learned from Survivor’s Richard Hatch, its that government hates tax evaders. After failing to pay what he owned, the reality show contestant was sent to the pokey for a nice long stay. (Hatch is not expected to complete his 4+ year sentence until October 2009.)
Unfortunately, Wesley Snipes was either not a fan of the CBS show or he just didn’t heed the warnings. Today, the Blade actor was sentenced to 3 years in prison for failure to file tax returns. Back in February, Snipes was found not guilty of other tax fraud and conspiracy charges.
Despite personal letters from fellow actors (Denzel Washington, Woody Harrelson) asking for possible probation, Snipes was given the maximum sentence by a U.S. District Court Judge in Florida. Snipes also paid $5 million of the reported $41 million he owes at the hearing today.
