Meryl Streep is clueless about the Mamma Mia! 2 rumors.
The Oscar-winning actress - who appeared in the film version of the ABBA-inspired musical Mamma Mia!’ in which she played the lead role of Donna Sheridan - insists she hasn’t been approached by film bosses about appearing in the rumored sequel, but isn’t concerned because she’s enjoying a break from acting.
“I heard that they were talking about it, but I am not sure it’s real, it’s not anything I’m on the inside track of. No one has told me anything yet. I try to live right now anyway. And right now I feel the need to stop for a moment and breathe because I’ve worked very hard in the last two and a half years, seven films - it’s a more than I’ve ever done.”
Meryl recently spoke about how she was just happy to be alive, well and working: “I’m very f***ing grateful. I have so many friends who are sick or gone, and I’m here. It’s incredible - I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies! I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my sell-by date. I remember saying to my husband when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”
