Skyscraper Space Invader Worries Security Experts
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Action, Corporate News, Retro,
We know that security experts are fairly nervous of late and this video of Skyscraper Space Invaders seemed to really freak out McAffee. “Perhaps the first demo was just for fun, but the others will have less juvenile goals,” said McAfee Avert Labs researcher Francois Paget.
Yves Peitzner, director of Brainstormclub, the German company that produced the video, said that this was a promotional idea for a video game conference. They produced it even when the planners backed out. Two buildings in Munich were used and the game was added in post production.

THQ one-upped the President in gift giving by sending their latest Wii title, “Big Family Games,” to the Queen of England. They also shipped her a gold-plated system with Remote and Nunchuck. The company stated the Royal Family is the most important one in the country and therefore needed one. While this is great publicity for THQ, we wonder if the monarch will send them a framed portrait as she did for the First Family. And, by the way, shouldn’t they send one to them too, as Sasha and Melia are certainly at an age to appreciate the gift.

Wal-mart is testing e-Play kiosks for automated video game trade-ins. So far they have been placed in 77 stores in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The machine scans a game, gives a quote and upon acceptance, credit is issued within a couple of days. The price is determined based on a proprietary algorithm that can change daily. If the test is successful, Wally World may eventually have them in most of their outlets and issue store credit.

Major Nelson: Old Xbox Avatar clothing will be unlocked in the future
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Downloadable Content, Microsoft, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
I don’t know about you, but some of the clothing that I put on my avatar that has since been removed from the currently available items in the Avatar Editor are no longer available for me to re-apply to my little guy—even if it’s a saved outfit. I threw out the issue on Twitter, and Major Nelson his me back to let me know that older clothing will be unlocked, and the issue will eventually disappear. Apparently, for those of you in the NXE Preview Program that was around before the NXE went public, if you’ve saved items as outfits that were removed, you are unable to access them, with the one caveat being that if you are currently wearing a piece of clothing that is locked, you get to rock it, as long as you don’t take it off.

Soca Claims Crime Bosses Communicate Via Playstation
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: PlayStation Network, Sony,
That dude that you met in that chat room may be a con, literally. The UK’s Serious Organized Crime Agency recently issued a report that claim that some crime bosses are utilizing PlayStations to control their “empires.” Soca says that it tracked over 5,000 prisoners over the past year and the they are using the game system to send “secret signals” while playing online, get inside chat rooms and use codewords. A spokesperson of the Prison Service claims that they have not been allowed access to wireless enabled technology and that the claim is bogus. As of this date, Sony has made no comment.
