Xbox 360 Motherboard

My brain can’t comprehend what I have just seen, as it was a surreal hardware lover’s paradise.  These images - in which the .zip file has been removed from the original host - are stunning.  They show all of the Xbox 360’s hardware as well as some great pictures of a few peripherals.  A wired USB controller isn’t looking so bad considering I could probably use it on my desktop PC.

Zatch Bell Preview

This year at E3 we played a bunch of games, but one that hasn’t gotten much recognition is set to launch in October, that being Zatch Bell. Zatch Bell is an anime show in which there is a group of beings called Mamodos.  Mamodos are from another dimension and they have special powers which can only be activated by a human reading spells from a spell book.  They battle each other until one or the others spell book is destroyed. The last Mamodo standing after all the battles becomes Mamodo king. Zatch Bell is the main Mamodo character in the anime, and now Bandai is branching out and creating the game.  This is a fighting game which looks fairly decent, and plays nicely from what I gathered at E3. Read more for a good rundown of the game along with some screenshots.

SOCOM PSP Beta

Well, it appears that the first official PSP Beta Test has begun. This time it’s for SOCOM Fireteam Bravo.  There isn’t much detail to give yet because the emails were just sent out tonight.  People who were part of the SOCOM II beta test seem to have gotten the emails first, than it was sent to other members of Sony’s G.A.P. (Gamer Advisory Panel). Once I get my beta disc, I’ll post some screenshots and impressions. Until then, read more for information about the game.

Atari Joystick Belt BuckleYou really have to hand it to the designers over at NESBuckle - they have just released a new version of the awesome NES belt buckle, and now they are bringing us an Atari counterpart. Although the Atari belt is a bit too phallic for my taste, it really does have some old school geek appeal. This fashion accessory is perfect for that geeky old school gamer in your life.

Super Mario Bros. CartoonBoy, did this take me back to my childhood.  Some of you may be too young to remember, but the Super Mario cartoon aired in the late 80’s/early 90’s and was terribly wonderful.  The worst part has to be the live action Mario sitcom in between cartoons.  I also recall that every Friday, which I highly anticipated, the Zelda cartoon would air. Is this enough to hold you us over until Twilight Princess is released? Sadly, no.

Xbox 360 Mac OS

Joystiq has an interesting post on the Xbox 360 and an interesting potential hack. With a 20gb HDD and triple core G5 based processor it is theoretically possible for the modder community to port the current PowerPC based version of OS X to the Xbox 360. Obviously doing anything like this to the yet-unreleased platform is still theoretical and would certainly void your warranty but with Apples open source initiatives and the legions of Xbox hardware hackers out there I almost think of this as inevitable. Obviously with the hit that console makers take on the hardware the Xbox 360 would pack a processing punch far greater than the Mac Mini at a fraction of the price - who wouldn’t want to get one for a great little Mac Media Center.

Nintendo Revolution Controller

The world can finally be at peace: Satoru Iwata is said to be unveiling the Nintendo Revolution controller on September 16th at the Tokyo Game Show. Much speculation has occurred as to the exact means of controlling the upcoming Nintendo Revolution- we have even written a number of articles on the matter. The current prevailing theories center around gyroscopic control and feedback, but nobody will know for sure until Nintendo’s Iwata speaks.

Duck Doom

Posted by Oscar M. Cantu Categories: PC, Retro,

Duck DoomAh, the good old days of the original NES and Duck Hunt. I remember how much I hated to hear the ducks make fun of me whenever they got away, resulting in me holding the light gun right in front of the television – come on, you know you did it too. Now Duck Hunt has been combined with a long time FPS favorite Doom. This means you can shoot those birds out of the sky using some of the most violent guns they have ever seen – who’s laughing now ducks?!

Doom MovieHere’s a look at the latest Doom movie trailer, featuring more footage than its predecessor. This time you actually get to see the weapons being used in combat, as well as the very cool first person camera shots being put into the movie adaptation of Doom. The FPS shots look awesome, but I can’t help but wonder how many people will get dizzy at the watching this one. Remember Blair Witch?

UT2007

These screenshots of Unreal Tournament 2007 look just amazing. What stands out the most is the level of detail put into the game. It’s not clear if these are in-game shots, or if they originate from a pre-rendered version. We’ll just have to sit and wait just a little bit longer to find out.
