Quote of the Day: Karl Lagerfeld on Anorexia
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, Models,
"I'm sorry to say that it's a subject I consider ridiculous for several reasons; the story with the anorexic girls - nobody works with anorexic girls, that's nothing to do with fashion. People who have that [anorexia] have problems to do with family and things like that... There are less than 1 per cent of anorexic girls, but there more than 30 per cent of girls in France - I don't know about England - that are much, much overweight. And it is much more dangerous and very bad for the health. So I think today with the junk food in front of the TV it's something dangerous for the health of the girl."
- Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld on an issue in the fashion world that has been addressed by both models and designers in the industry.

Lizzie Jagger, Jerry Hall Strip Down to Promote Sustainable Fishing
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Models, News,
Something fishy is going on with underwater wildlife, and celebrities like Lizzie Jagger, Jerry Hall, and Emilia Fox are shedding light on the issue by getting nude.
Not unlike PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign, FISHLOVE is a campaign founded by actress Greta Scacchi and photographed by John Rankin to spread awareness about the dangers of overfishing. "Fish stocks are at a critical level. This could not only see fish wiped out, but could have a devastating impact on the climate. "There is a real chance of turning things around, and celebrities are a great way of raising awareness," Scacchi explained.
The photographs (more seen after the jump) will be on display starting October 25 at the Pertwee, Anderson & Gold gallery in London, coinciding with an EU summit which will address the overfishing issue.

Frances Bean Cobain is Slowly Morphing into Her Father
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Hairstyles,
The daughter of rock legend Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, Frances Bean Cobain, was photographed at LAX sporting pink hair and a grunge look reminiscient of her late father.
The 20 year-old sometimes-model and artist looked effortlessly grunge-chic with a jean jacket (complete with what appears to sport shapes constructed from electrical tape) and a baggy t-shirt, paired with somewhat-sheer black pants and jelly sandals.
Despite her sharp resemblance to Kurt - physically and style-wise - Frances Bean has previously claimed that she strays from her parents' trademark clothing cues: "I don't like to look sloppy. I'm a girlie-girl. I prefer when [my mom is a] more classy starlet. I don't really like her hard-metal stuff, or when she doesn't brush her hair." Perhaps she's had a slight change of heart?
Frances Bean was recently almost ordered in to testify in a lawsuit against her estranged mother, managing to avoid being deposed on the grounds that she was not in contact with her mother at the time.

Christina Aguilera Wants to Empower Women
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty,
Christina Aguilera hopes her curvy figure will "empower" women. The 31-year-old "Your Body" singer - who has attracted a huge amount of publicity for her current weight - insists she is comfortable in her own skin and hopes her struggle will "empower" other women.
"I'm always in support of someone who is willing and comfortable in their own skin enough to embrace it. Embracing your body is so important, especially as a woman. In this business we are so analysed and judged. It's wonderful to be in a position and have that side of myself that I can latch on to and empower other women. The older you get, the more important it is to embrace your body and your sexuality."
The Voice judge also opened up about her four-year-old son Max and the pressures of juggling motherhood and her career: "I can wear different hats - for example, the artist hat. When I'm on that stage and I've been in the wardrobe getting dressed up to play a character, I am living out a specific moment in a song. That hat is very different to the one I wear when I go home at night and I tuck my son in and I'm singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. It's a crazy thing, it's an interesting road he has ahead of him, but as I said, I try to keep all the different hats I wear very different so that Mummy's hat is very different from party hat. It's a real balancing act for me."

Lookbook: Amy Adams for Boy. by Band of Outsiders
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Editorials, Fashion Designers,
Following in the footsteps of Michelle Williams, Amy Adams has been recruited as the latest celebrity to show off Boy. by Band of Outsiders' latest collection.
The Master star was photographed in a series of Polaroids (more seen after the jump) around the Autry National Center of the American West in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, which was quite fitting for the lookbook's Wild West feel.
“The overarching narrative is always the idea of this sort of child inside of you... When you were alone, how you entertained yourself as a kid, trying to go back to that place. There’s no irony or glibness. Really, it’s more childlike," said designer Scott Sternberg.

Blake Lively helped to design her wedding dress.
The Gossip Girl actress - who married actor Ryan Reynolds in a surprise ceremony in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, last month - collaborated directly with Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman to ensure she walked down the aisle in her dream dress.
Georgina, who owns the brand with Keren Craig, said, "Blake has such an innate style. I've worked with her so many times and know her so well."
The blonde Savages star - who is well known for her love of fashion - wore a custom-made beaded gown featuring a silk tulle bodice and rose-gold embroidery.
