The Return of Monta?
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, H2H, Injuries, Pacific Division, Golden State Warriors, Rumors, Waiver Pick Ups,
Though still recovering from his moped-turned-busted ankle, Monta Ellis has been activated by the Golden State Warriors after serving his 30-game suspension for violating “team policy.” If you remember correctly, Ellis signed a six-year deal that will ultimately pay him a hefty chunk of change; one that he can now start collecting on.
The guard can now begin taking part in team activities and will likely do so when the Warriors return from their road trip. Expect Ellis to start running some time after the Christmas holiday, and perhaps earning some playing time near the beginning of January. With that said, the dual-eligible guard deserves a roster spot in nearly every league at this point. Low risk, high reward, if you will.

Exchange Center: Week 3

I apologize, Luc Richard. I could not find a decent photo of you in your NBA uniform. But you, Mr. Mbah a Moute, have been kicking enough boute lately to be one of the hottest pick-ups in leagues. Props for that.
Here are recent add/drop transactions in two leagues I participate in (the 12- and 14-team leagues), and one my friends play in (a 10-team league). Hopefully by looking at different sized leagues, there are some moves you can look at regardless of what size league you play in.

Dropping Dimes is trying out a new feature. Fantasy 30 intends to rank all of the NBA teams in terms of fantasy power. A list like this tends to lead to a lot of disagreement and discussion, but the hope is that these rankings will be fluid and updated as the year goes on. Thanks to Ron Chow for the assist. In addition to publishing updates on the Fantasy 30, once in a while we hope to produce sister articles that focus on a specific team and its roster.
#1: Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bryant ranks as a top four fantasy player this year. The Lakers employ two fantasy-worthy starters for center in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Lamar Odom has played well coming off the bench. Jordan Farmar has sleeper point guard potential, and the team also employs three-point threats like Derek Fisher and Vlad Radmanovic. All of this adds up to the Lakers being top dog early in the year.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 7 - Corey Maggette
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Pacific Division, Golden State Warriors, Site Features, Talent,
Corey Maggette now plays for the Golden State Warriors. Baron Davis left the Warriors for the Los Angeles Clippers, where Maggette used to play. Elton Brand left the Clippers to play for the Sixers. It made for a fun off-season and perhaps this picture shows us that Maggette enjoyed himself during the process. Okay, not really. But after considering lesser offers to play for the Celtics or the Spurs, Maggette signed on with a team where he can certainly thrive statistically.
Admittedly, picking Maggette here is earlier than in most drafts. However, after drafting guys in the first three rounds who are no lock to clear 17 ppg, shoring up the points is needed. Every other team in the league is bound to employ at least one 20 ppg scorer and although the point category is not as sexy as steals or blocks, it certainly should not be a category you punt.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 6 - Chris Kaman
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Pacific Division, Los Angeles Clippers, Site Features, Talent,
This team needs a center. Dirk Nowitzki remains a very safe and reliable first round pick, but he lost his center eligibility years ago, his defensive stats have been in decline. Plus, although he picked it up at the end of the year, overall his three-point shooting is not enough of an impact to negate the lack of blocks and relative lack of rebounds. Baron Davis and Paul Pierce represent an exciting and formidable fantasy back-court. That next level tier of guards comes up in the fifth and sixth rounds, so it is a green light to go big here.
Currently this guy has an average draft position of 49.0 on Yahoo, so we tab him a bit earlier than that here at 42nd overall.
Round 4, Pick 6: Chris Kaman, C, Los Angeles Clippers
The Fig Cap: Hey Dirk, we get to roll together on this team just like Team Germany!

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 4, Pick 1 - Kevin Martin

Dwyane Wade.
Al Jefferson.
Rudy Gay.
Through three rounds of a head to head draft, having these three guys from the 12 spot. Time to press the advantage in scoring, and this guy might be the best scorer left out there. Plus he provides in bundles what this team still needs lots of…three-pointers.
Round 4, Pick 1, Kevin Martin, SG, Sacramento Kings
The Fig Cap: With the Tru Warier gone, K-Mart is open 24-7! Give me the rock!

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 6 - Andrew Bynum

Had Andrew Bynum been healthy all of last year, we may have a different World Champion team. There’s no doubt the Lakeshow missed his 2 blocks, almost 2 dimes, and more importantly, his 10 rebounds per and that huge inside presence. But that’s spilled milk. Most sites have Bynum ranked at about the 10th best center, and he’s the ninth taken in our draft. Check out why after the jump…

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 2 - Pau Gasol
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Pacific Division, Los Angeles Lakers, Talent,
So far this team has the best point guard and possibly the best fantasy player out there in Chris Paul and arguably the most dominant center in terms of doing what he is good at in Dwight Howard. The turnovers will rack up quickly on this team, but who cares about turnovers, right?
The choice in the war room is to add a big man who can pass the rock, thereby giving both CP3 and Superman a little backup.
Round 3, Pick 2: Pau Gasol, PF/C, Los Angeles Lakers

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 2 Pick 7 - Steve Nash
Posted by Ron Chow Categories: H2H, Pacific Division, Phoenix Suns, Props, Site Features, Talent,
I would like share with my faithful Dropping Dimes readers (yes, all two of you) that I have recently tied the knot with my long time girlfriend, Vivian. She has been by my side for close to eight years and has brought out the best in me during our time together. She has endured my infatuation with fantasy sports for many seasons and understands that another season of madness will be soon upon us.
In the fantasy b-ball world, the unity of mega-talents Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash benefited many fantasy GMs for the past couple of years. But it’s Shawn Marion that will be linking forces with the two-time MVP on this fantasy team.

Dropping Dimes Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 6 - Baron Davis

The Fig Cap: “Hey, B-Diddy, you’re wearing your old uniform, bro.”
“WhatyoutalkingaboutChris?!?!?!?”
Baron Davis will be taking the Boom Dizzle down from NorCal to SoCal as he will no longer sport his beard in the Yay Area, but instead in the City of Angels where no doubt his ability to drain buckets (and miss them like he was Stevie Wonder), drop the rock (bathroom humor not intended), and be a threat on the floor will no doubt thrill the fans at the Clip Joint! Yes… I’m talking about the Los Angeles Clippers and, believe it or not, it’s totally possible for their fans to be thrilled. Seriously. Why are you laughing?
