Baron Davis/Elton Brand, Mickael Pietrus Out, Corey Maggette In
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, Props, Talent, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers,
I don’t know who I even thought I was kidding yesterday when I mentioned Corey Maggette taking less money to play with a contender. Who did I think he was? Gilbert Arenas?
But with the dust settling, it looks like Maggette will suit up this season in Oakland where he will be running along side Monta Ellis, Captain Jack and the rest of the Warriors. Baron Davis and Mickael Pietrus will be elsewhere, freeing up plenty of touches for the former Blue Devil. We’ve already laid out his weaknesses, but with the swingman playing on a team that could not care less about stopping another team from scoring, he will fit right in.
Expect plenty of points with the ever-solid percentages. Mid-round selection, here we come…
About Corey Maggette

While Bill Plaschke pours his heart out to Elton Brand in L.A. and Golden State fans are still hoping they’re just in a bad dream, the rest of the NBA is looking at the rest of the free agent pool - with one of the bigger names out there being a former Clipper in Corey Maggette.
Magg’s fantasy value has always been in his scoring efforts as well as his contributions in terms of efficiency. One of the better free throw shooters in the league, Maggette typically finds a way to get to the rack or cash in from the stripe if hindered. Never much of a rebounder or defender..or three-point shooter for that matter… some have been a bit touchy with drafting someone that could only help in select categories.
But this value may be on the rise (or the fall) depending on where Maggette lands…

Elton Brand Has Some Decisions to Make
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, Pacific Division, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Talent,
While we followed up on the recent Baron Davis news not too long ago, this game of musical chairs appears to be far from over.
The Warriors appear to have been caught off guard by Sir Davis leaving for Los Angeles, thus have decided to start hurling contract offers all over the league. Word came out that Chris Mullin and crew made an offer to Washington’s Gilbert Arenas - but he appears to be staying put. So, next on the list?
Former (and possibly returning) Clipper power forward Elton Brand

Exodus from the Bay?
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, News, Talent, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers,
Wow, that didn’t take long. As discussed briefly yesterday, Baron Davis looks to be relocating intrastate, as he has reportedly agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Clippers. While Bill Simmons picked a crummy year to not renew his season tickets, the Clips could be looking at a starting five of Davis, Cuttino Mobley, Quinton Ross, Elton Brand and Chris Kaman.
Yes, I left Corey Maggette off of that list as his money will likely now have “Baron Davis” written on the paycheck. As Nels broke down here, this doesn’t exactly bode well for those that were planning on using an early pick to select Davis in the fantasy world. Even worse if you were counting on Brevin Knight.

Free Agents! They’re Everywhere!
Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, Rumors, Talent, Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers,
By now, you’ve likely heard that a few of last season’s top producers (and one that should have been pre-injury) have decided that they will test the free agency waters.
Obviously, this will have a vast impact on the upcoming fantasy season. Rumors have it that Baron Davis will look at the Clippers, with the possible addition of Gilbert Arenas in Golden State? It’s a crazy world we live in; this I know.
Stay tuned to see where these players land, as we’re seeing some serious cash being left on the respective tables. And if you have time to kill, head to Disney World. You may just run into a future top-three fantasy pick!

Beyond The Arc - Week 24

(Editors Note: Apologies for the tardiness of this post. While Brandon was punctual as usual, I’m late in pinch-hitting the posting of his piece. Try saying that five times fast.)
So, next week is the first week of the league finals in most formats. Hopefully you are still alive, and even more so, hopefully you’ve had fun this season. For me personally, this was my best and most fulfilling fantasy season to date. Take a long look at that roster, see what you can dump, see what you can move around, and take a look at who’s hot and who’s not, because these final two weeks are what it’s all about. This week I’ll try and focus on guys who you may still be able to pick up.
Here’s next week’s slate of games (4/7-4/13):

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time
With the fantasy playoffs soon approaching, it’s getting to the point where games-remaining is a big determinant in whom you’ll be adding-dropping over the next week. Leagues that lock rosters after a certain point will definitely want to pay attention to this. Those that allow streaming – while I don’t condone – will want to pay close attention to this as well. With that said, here are the players that should be on your current radars, given league settings.

While owners are frantically looking for the players who will go from unknown to fantasy playoff superstars in the matter of weeks (Walter Herrmann circa 2007), we have all been confronted with a bevy of superstar injuries. While the Gerald Wallace concussion hurts, no injury will likely impact the final weeks more than Houston’s Yao Ming calling it a season. The rotations have ironed themselves out, and we now know who needs to be added where. Hopefully your opponents have been asleep at the wheel as we have a ton of fantasy assets out there on the wire as we speak.

It is admittedly getting tough to find some weekly additions from the waiver wire at this time of year. While we have the trade deadline looming, most of the transactions from here out will be based on either injuries or scheduling. Four-game weeks are going to become crucial as we head into the playoffs. Those that are behind on games in roto leagues will need to start making well-thought moves to get the game totals as close to 72 to as possible before it is all said and done. With that said, here are this week’s recommendations.
